Watson & Son Honey

Watson & Son was founded by Denis Watson in Wairarapa, and is now owned by Oha Honey of Ngāi Tahu, New Zealand’s principal Māori iwi. Ever since their inception, Watson & Son’s Manuka honey has been highly regarded for their uncompromising standards in authenticity, purity, and quality. To harvest top quality Manuka, they place their hives in some of the most remote and untouched areas abundant with the indigenous Manuka trees.

Watson had worked closely with the late professor Dr. Peter Molan, widely known as the father of Manuka, who created the UMF grading standard with his team at University of Waikato. Dr. Molan further created what could be the most reliable Manuka grading standard – the Molan Gold Standard (MGS), by appraising the natural marker methylglyoxal that distinguishes Manuka and its potency from other honey. Today, every bottle of Watson & Son Manuka honey proudly displays the MGS rating that bears the name of the eminent professor.

In 2020, Watson & Son also launched a range of floral honey. Naturally, this new collection also meets the same high standard as required of their famous Manuka honey.
