Greenvale Dried Fruits and Nuts

The history of Greenvale is intertwined with the development of California pistachios in our city. In 1982, we brought in Blue Diamond’s pistachios in glass jars, and we became the pioneer of pistachios in Hong Kong. In those days, the pistachios were dyed in red to cover the unsightly stains left on the shell due to obsolete harvesting methods. By 1983, with new harvesting systems that dried and hulled the nuts before they were stained, pistachios started to come in their natural colour. Sensing the potential of the natural shell, we started to bring in buik packing pistachios and targeted wholesalers to speed up the distribution of this new product that was hardly known by the general public then. The strategy was a great success. Sales rocketed. Pistachios quickly became one of the preferred snack nuts in our market.

In early 80s, we began to travel through the Central Valley, California, and knocked on the door of just about every nut roaster. Finally, we found the processor with the best roast and quality, and have been working with them ever since.

In mid 80s, we started to package the pistachios in lb size bags for retailers, and named it Greenvale. Today, Greenvale is more than just pistachios. But old timers still refer to it as the brand that brought the best pistachios to our city at affordable prices.
