Steenland Chocolates
Steenland first started in Gouda, the Netherlands, as a bakery in 1899. Over the years, it has grown to become a leading novelty chocolate company. In 1968, Steenland began to produce chocolate coins in gold foil. They have developed this into an art form that is beautiful, and delicious.
To produce a perfect chocolate coin, it requires exquisite craftsmanship, intricate yet sturdy moulds, right colour foil, high precision stamping machines, premium quality chocolates and plenty of skills and experience to work together seamlessly. And it is in this challenging category of confectionery that Steenland excels. Their customized coins have graced countless worthy occasions.
In the 1960s, we introduced Steenland’s chocolate gold coins to Hong Kong, and created the 一帆風順 (smooth sailing) motif for Chinese New Year. The gold coins caught on immediately. Ever since, chocolate gold coins have become an integral part of Hong Kong’s Chinese New Year celebration.
